Renewal

I.

Press the reset button.
Start over again.
See yourself in a new light.
See others with a better perspective.
Try something you’ve been afraid to do.
Just leap and see where it takes you.

II.

Look different if that’s what you want.
A short perm would suit the new attitude.
Be edgy with blonde dreadlocks or red braids.
Long, straight hair or big wavy curls is a nice change.
Or maybe you’ll cut it all off and go natural?
Try it all. Why not?
Just don’t forget to own it.
Don’t forget to stand strong when the moment demands it.
Oh and don’t hesitate to say goodbye to who doesn’t accept this uniqueness up close.

III.

Yes, girl go ahead and speak up for you
Go ahead, support and uplift another woman
Go ahead, turn the music up and do your silly dance.
Go ahead, flip through old pictures and reminisce as you laugh at your weird life.
Go ahead and just sit still as you listen to the whispers of your heart.

IV.

The heart whispers to dream out loud.
Even if it makes them uncomfortable.
Even if they still don’t understand as you bare it all.
Let them stare and talk and mock.
You remain smiling and they wonder why?
You know God’s got you.
You know your definition of you matters the most.
So continue or please start to live within your own expectations and no one else.
