Nigerian Women Discuss Beauty & Bleaching

What defines a woman’s beauty? Is a woman’s beauty merely defined by her complexion? In Nigeria, the perception that lighter is better is perpetuated on ads. We see signs telling women how to achieve a lighter look. At major supermarkets, there is a section dedicated solely to bleaching products.

I may not be a dark-skinned woman but I still believe that there is beauty found in other complexions. I also believe that beauty is much more than your colour.

I define my beauty not only by looks but the way that I carry myself. I define my beauty through my passion and drive. I define my beauty through my confidence. I define my beauty through my resilience.

I alongside other women and some men share their opinion on how they define beauty.

Have a watch and let me know how you define your beauty?
