My faith sustains me. It is what enables me to wake up and get out of bed. God gives me hope especially when things in my life are uncertain. I’m sure we’ve all had those moments when we weren’t sure where life is taking us. I had that moment after my highschool graduation. I wasn’t sure whether I would be in Europe or America for university. I then had moments of uncertainty after university graduation, not knowing whether I would have a future in America. I have moments of uncertainty right now, trying to navigate my life back in Nigeria and wondering about my purpose.
Uncertainty is that thing that will always occur but I still keep moving. I still try to be determined, motivated and hardworking. I keep persevering. It is because of God. It is because I believe in the promises he made to me. It’s because I know his plans for me are for good and not evil. It is because the Bible tells me that all things work for the good of those that love the Lord. I love the Lord and I want to share how trusting in my creator helps me deal with uncertainty.
Remember When God Had Your Back
When times are uncertain and I find myself wondering what’s going on, I remember the faithfulness of my God. I remember the times that he was with me, guiding my steps and placing the right people in my life. I remember how after highschool graduation, I was disturbed by the possibility of going to the U.K. to study law because it was not what I wanted. At the end of the day, God directed my steps and opened a door that led me to New York. There, I was able to pursue my interests and discover new passions.
Remember that There is a Greater Being in Control
When life’s uncertainties hit me, understanding that God is in control of my life puts me at ease. What this means to me is that since God is in control, what will be will be. Where I am destined to be, what I am destined to do, who I am destined to be with, the Lord will ordain my steps. So though my plans don’t work out, it is okay because God’s plan will always work out. He is in control and his plan is best.
Remember what the Scriptures Say
When I’m confused or lost, reflecting on God’s word restores my hope and faith.
Two of my favorite verses are from Isaiah.
In Isaiah 43:Verse 1 -2. it reads….
The Lord Has Rescued His People
“I have called you by name; now you belong to me. When you cross deep rivers, I will be with you, and you won’t drown. When you walk through fire, you won’t be burned or scorched by the flames.”
That verse helps me to understand that no matter the challenges and difficulties that life brings me, I will surely rise above it because I am a child of God. No matter the fears and disappointments that I may feel, I will surely smile after because God will not let me drown.
In Isaiah 43:Verse 18 it reads…
Forget the Past
“Forget what happened long ago! Don’t think about the past. I am creating something new. There it is! Do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands.”
That verse is powerful to me because it helps me understand that I shouldn’t focus my energy on the past. I can’t continue to be regretful over failed dreams because God will give me a new dream. That verse helps me to understand that I should not be afraid of change because God is going to do new things in my life so I can’t carry an old way of being into a new path.
I felt inclined to write this post because as humans, I’m sure we all go through difficulties and uncertainties. Times become trying. For me, continuing to turn to God helps me to deal with challenges and life’s uncertainties. Continuing to turn to God helps me to push through. Continuing to turn to God gives me strength and drive because I surely believe that the Lord’s plans for me are always for my good.
